Microsoft Windows XP is designed for use on personal computers. It was first released on October 25, 2001. It has been succeeded by Windows Vista, which was released to the general public January 30, 2007. Retail sales of Windows XP ceased on June 30, 2008, but it is still possible to obtain Windows XP from until 31 July 2009 or by purchasing Windows Vista Ultimate or Business from a PC Retailer and then downgrading to Windows XP.
